So you have noticed that your ASUS laptop is overheating and running slow.
Laptop overheating is always caused by the lack of air circulation through the heatsink. This can be caused by the following:

  1. the heatsink is clogged up by dust
  2. the fan on the CPU or GPU is damaged and has seized up not running at all
  3. you placed the laptop on a soft surface blocking the air intake

1. In the first case the only reason the laptop overheats, is that your laptop has not had a major service. asus dirty heatsink on CPU causing overheatingDepending on the laptop and the environment the laptop runs in, it usually starts happening after a year. Click on the image to see a close up what your cooling system looks like after a year of not being serviced.

SOLUTION
Get your laptop fully serviced by a qualified technician at least once a year!

2. In the second case, for the same reason of the lack asus laptop clogged fan with dust fluffof service, the fan simply seizes up as it was not lubricated. The second reason can be, that the fluff built up on the heatsink has been sucked into the fan (or blown into it by a smartass wannabe techician using compressed air) and simply stopped it fromspinning. Click on the picture to see a close up of the problem. The last cause can be that something has been sucked into the fan through the external grate and stopped it fromspinning.A check of the air intake on thebottom of the laptop will reveal a problem. On the picture is a common air intake that a a closer look shows a buid up of dust and hair.

SOLUTION
The laptop has to be dissasembled, serviced, foreign body from fan removed and fan lubricated.

3. Funny enough a laptop being called a laptop, it's never supposed to be used by the laptop sitting on your lap!

The reason is that the intake for the fan is on the bottom of the laptop and when this intake is blocked the air circulation totally stops and the laptop overheats.

SOLUTION
Never use a ASUS laptop by sitting it on any soft surface that might block the air intake grid!
A full hardware service consist of:
  1. Laptop stripped down to the motherboard
  2. CPU fan and heatsink removed and cleaned
  3. CPU fan lubricated
  4. Reinstallation of the CPU fan and heatsink with fresh thermal paste applied
  5. Full general clean of the internal parts of the laptop body with special focus on the air intake vents
  6. Dissassembly of the screen and tightning of all and mainly the hinge screws (if your screen is flopping around this is why it why it has to be done)
  7. Blowing out the dirt trapped under the keys of the keyboard and surface clean of all the keys
  8. Full external clean of the body and screen panel with a special cleaning agent (top secret!)

If you're not getting all of these steps when you're getting your laptop serviced you are getting ripped off.

As a bonus we will always include a complimentary software service!

Why you ask? Check out the second point on the right to show you exactly what happens when this is attempted! Result? The fan stops spinning all together and your laptop is rendered useless as it keeps shutting down when it overheats and the end is the video chip overheating to a point where is fails!

Trust us this will be much more costly to fix rather then just to get a service.

We strongly recommend getting your laptop a full hardware service once a year.

In the long run, you will save money..
